General Rules

The NBA basketball court is 94 feet long and 50 feet wide. The height of the hoop is 10 feet.

An NBA game consists of four 12-minute periods. If the score is tied, overtime periods of 5 minutes are played.

Teams have 24 seconds to attempt a field goal after gaining possession. The clock resets to 14 seconds on an offensive rebound.

Each team gets 7 timeouts during regulation play, with restrictions in the fourth period. Overtime grants 2 additional timeouts per team.

Field goals are worth 2 points unless made beyond the three-point line, which are worth 3 points. Free throws are worth 1 point each.
